About Us

My name is Lauren Vellenga, I am the founder and creator behind Hope and Pine. I started Hope and Pine in March of 2018 with the desire to make high quality and beautiful custom signs for you & I to hang in our homes, filling our spaces with the words and symbols that truly represent us and our families. Emily Dickinson once wrote, “I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it, until it begins to shine”. It’s so true. There are song lyrics we never want to forget and verses that have shaped the life we now know. There are dates and symbols that matter in a such a way that they help define who we are. There are words of affirmation, inspiration, joyfulness, silliness, instruction; pictures of love and beauty. We want to fill our minds and hearts with these things, hoping they spill out on all who meet us. We pin them, tag them, and share them. Why not do something more powerful and meaningful? Why not fill our homes with them? Having a way to display them beautifully is everything and that’s where I come in. •  What would you put on a sign? If you could only hang one in your home, what would it say? Would it be a date, song lyrics, a picture or symbol? What are your “shining words”?

And in case you were wondering, here's a little about me. I’m a 36 year old wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, coffee-in-the-morning-Tito-in-the-evening-seltzer-in-between drinking, online shopping, Jesus loving country girl. I live with my husband and four kids in the small town of Pine Bush, NY. I have been a full time stay at home mom since our last child was born in 2016. Just about one year ago, my husband ((Chris | whom I met in kindergarten but took until our college years to fall in love with)) and I moved into our dream home, a house we built on the farm where he grew up. In fact our house stands on the spot where we were engaged almost 16 years ago. Needless to say it’s always been our dream. And this is where Hope & Pine operates out of, my home based workshop.
